Madison has been dealing with a cough since around her birthday .. that is 4 months now!! New Year's Eve we went to a WSU basketball game, Mark was carrying her as we were walking out to the car and she just starts choking - she starts coughing and ends up choking. Until then we have been told there really is nothing we can do, we're doing everything we are supposed to be doing - sit in the steamy bathroom, the vapor steamer, the rub on her chest, allergy medicine, albuteral, lots of fluids - after this episode we're finally doing something. We are scheduled to see a pediatric pulmonologist (respritory doctor) and maybe eventually see a pediatric allergy doctor. Right now, we are scheduled to see the pulmonologist on Feb. 19, but are trying to get that moved up, we're on a list to be called if there is a cancellation.
This cough comes and goes, its not like she's been coughing everyday for 4 months. But every time it comes back, it is worse than before. It came back this last Thursday, but she is finally doing better. Over the weekend the only way we could get her to rest is to sit in the rocking chair with her. She had a 101+ temp for 3 days ... so we were doing all of the above things and added a lukewarm bath to keep her temp down. We were doing 5 medicines, now down to one, thank goodness!
So for now, things are going much better, we're just praying we can get into this pediatric pulmonologist sooner than our appointment and get something figured out!!
